today is another heavy day for charlottesville. please hold the survivors of the august 12th terror attack in your hearts today as they prepare for what will likely be a guilty plea from fields on his federal hate crime charges.

i’ve been joking for months that wes’ daughters weren’t gonna let their dad run again. when he shared that his wife was pregnant, i was sure this announcement was coming.
all jokes aside, i respect this choice. it’s not an easy job for anyone, but the kind of abuse wes & his family have endured over the last few years is truly appalling.
kathy nearly cried when i called her a class traitor and signer never misses an opportunity to tell a sob story, but wes and his family, including his young daughters, get harassment, abuse, and threats of violence that are shocking even to me.

it’s confusing and not always convenient but it is interesting to see the inside of different schools when the school board work sessions are held in locations other than the county office building. i’ve never been inside monticello high school before!
last time they had a work session at a high school i accidentally went to the wrong venue and was surprised to wander into a completely dark and empty lane auditorium. thanks @Knott_Katherine for reminding me it was here tonight!
tonight’s agenda is... lengthy. not a big crowd here in the monticello high school library, though. public comment is scheduled for 8:40pm. they’ve run mostly on time lately.

switching gears now to the city budget work session at 6! i highly encourage cville folks not attending the budget meeting to go to the community input forum with the police civilian review board at legal aid justice center’s office, also at 6.
i wrote about the budget this week for @cvillenews_desk. i hate budget season, but it is undeniably important!

one of the “remaining budget issues” is whether or not they will proceed with raising the real estate tax rate. there were enough councilors in support of raising it at a meeting on the 16th, but councilor galvin had revoked her support at last week’s work session.

Ron Rockwell Hansen, 59, of Syracuse, Utah, entered his guilty plea before U.S. District Court Judge Dee Benson in Salt Lake City. The plea agreement includes a stipulated sentence of 180 months, subject to approval of the Court. Sentencing is set for Sept. 24, 2019, at 2 p.m.
