Here's a thread on the ULTRAMILLIONAIRES TAX to raise money & fight inequality.

The top 1% got the vast majority of income & wealth gains over the last decade. Corporate profits & investments grew far faster than wages.

The Trump tax plan gave NY millionaires & billionaires big tax cuts — while actually raising federal taxes on middle-class households.

Now is the perfect time to reform New York state tax laws to address the wild inequities of the “GOP Tax Scam.”

It's time for the ultramillionaires & billionaires who got the Trump tax cuts for the rich to give some back to pay for schools & services that all New Yorkers need.

@CarlHeastie & @NYSA_Majority showed how: they’ve passed an ULTRAMILLIONAIRES TAX that increases state taxes on marginal income above $5 million per year, with additional brackets at $10 million and $100 million per year.

That’s right -- per year.

@CarlHeastie @NYSA_Majority There are about 5600 New Yorkers who make more than five million dollars every single year, out of the 19.6 million folks who live here.

Most of them live in Manhattan. In huge swaths of our state, there is no one who’d be hit by this tax.

But public schools everywhere will benefit. Public transportation everywhere can be rebuilt. All by making our state tax laws more fair.

There’s absolutely no need right now to raise any taxes on working people, the middle class or even the upper middle class.

It’s time to raise state income taxes -- but only on the super-rich.

@PatrioticMills Their personal income taxes were cut. Their inheritance taxes were cut. Their pass-through corporations got tax cuts, and they got most of the money from tax-cut stock buybacks.

It’s the perfect time for purportedly progressive politicians to strike back.

Our @NYGovCuomo -- and @GavinNewsom @PhilMurphyNJ @NedLamont & @JBPritzker -- should be raising taxes on the richest of the rich, who got the bulk of the benefits from the Trump tax breaks.

The ULTRAMILLIONAIRES TAX is a perfect place to start.
