I recently read Joseph Dumit’s book “Drugs for Life” (2012) that boasts a clever title, intriguing cover art, and relatable topic. The aesthetics are great, but the content left me only partially satisfied. Get ready for a #BookReview #AnthroTwitter
Do you want to know something wild? A leading clinical researcher told Dumit that “being on five or more drugs for life is a minimum” (12). Wild for me. But for my parents, who use pill containers for their many prescriptions, maybe not. My parents actually gifted me one. Yikes.
Main idea: the definition of health has shifted. Being healthy makes us insecure b/c we're always at risk yet don’t know what we could/should be doing to counteract that risk. Instead of being happy I'm healthy, I know I’ve said, “I’m going to get sick soon. It’s been too long."

Good evening everyone
Its time for review of the book Richest Man in Babylon. This week we would be reviewing Chapter 7 titled
The Walls of Babylon
We are now on the 7th chapter of the Richest Man in Babylon. The chapter is titled The walls of Babylon.
It talks about perseverance, hope, courage, having your back covered. In this chapter there are many lessons of life!
#BookReview #SavingsChallengeNaija
One of the biggest lessons in life is to always expect the unexpected. Dont leave yourself without being covered. Think of the worst that can happen and prepare for it. If it does not happen good, if it does happen you are heads up.

Woke up to a Google alert about this new review of #BodymindsReimagined in American Literary History by Rebecca Wanzo (@rawreader) & I am just so honored & amazed.

I’ll share my favorite quotes below! Happy to send folks a copy who don’t have access!…
“Schalk offers the most paradigm-shifting challenge to what is speakable and unspeakable: the problem of linking blackness with disability and how to reframe our treatment of these categories”

“The issue of pleasure is one of the most radical interventions of the book, thus modeling a new ideal of what the nexus of race and the speculative genre can do.” (And shout out to @adriennemaree, @WalidahImarisha & @OctaviasBrood) #pleasureactivism

Babylon was not always Rich. Thery had to get the knowledge on how to be wealthy.
#BookReview #SavingsChallengeNaija
For there to be a wealthy country there have to be wealthy people
When the wealth of a Nation is only in the hands of very few people the Nation cannot be wealthy.

I don’t have all the words for it yet, but if you don’t have Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha (@brownstargirl)’s new book Care Work, you need to go buy it right now. Now. Especially if you are disabled or a person of color or a femme or all of the above. It is...exceptional.
It reminds me of the intensely political, personal, fierce, healing writing of 80s WOC feminists like Audre Lorde & Gloria Anzaldúa. This book is intellectually & emotionally powerful. I’m buying copies for friends. I’m so blown away, so moved—truly a game changing collection.
