RT-ing this👇🏾from January, since "leaving on WTO terms is just fine" is back on the agenda.

With linked analysis, data, comment from @rjbarfield1, @UKTradeForum, @wto, @commonslibrary, @anandMenon1,@uk_tpo, @UKandEU, @SamuelMarcLowe, as well as mine

The idea that leaving the EU on WTO terms alone will only have a minor impact on the UK is just wishful thinking.

@DmitryOpines has also written and spoken a lot about this.

For example: explaintrade.com/blogs/2018/12/…

Or you can watch @DmitryOpines in this 5-minute video from a couple of days ago

Here's a mega-thread from @uk_domain_names with links to an even longer (!) thread and an article.

Well worth the effort if you're seriously thinking about the UK leaving the EU with no deal, or on WTO terms (which, for trade, are the same)

My own articles on the WTO and Brexit are on my blog:

There are also presentations, such as this one on the UK, EU and WTO

And if you're a glutton for punishment, there's even this video of a presentation at Chatham House @ChathamHouse @CH_Events earlier this month, a primer on leaving the EU on WTO terms — 30 minutes presentation, 30 minutes Q&A

It's also clear that even the few EU free trade agreements that have been "rolled-over" to the UK are incomplete.

To repeat: the idea that leaving the EU on WTO terms alone will only have a minor impact on the UK is just wishful thinking.

Finally, last night I did this, using some pictures of the WTO headquarters in Geneva. Just for fun

P.S. How could I forget @TheAHDB?

Agriculture will see the biggest hit if no-deal tariffs apply to UK-EU trade — for UK exports to the EU; and in the UK even if the govt unilaterally lowers/scraps tariffs.

@TheAHDB has some excellent work on this ahdb.org.uk/brexit
This @TheAHDB paper takes a broader look, "The WTO and its implications for UK agriculture":

That link no longer works because YouTube "mislaid" @DmitryOpines's video — I prefer "disapplied", the word @tradegovuk uses for non-rollover of EU deals.

It's now in two parts. This explains WTO rules:
The second part looks at the implications for UK exporters
