All the lying about Yang is really pissing me off. If you prefer another candidate, great, that's what democracy is all about. Argue for your candidate. Argue that Bernie's UBI plan would lift everyone out of poverty but to a greater degree. Oh right, he doesn't have a UBI plan.
Don't get me wrong, I like Bernie. If Yang wasn't running, Bernie would be my #1. With RCV, he'd be my #2. But do you see me attacking Bernie with lies? Of course not. Whoever you prefer, explain why your candidate & their policies are better. Don't lie about what others prefer.
Yang's UBI isn't perfect but he's the only candidate looking to find everyone who has fallen through the holes of our safety net and lift them up. Meanwhile his detractors are arguing that he doesn't care about poor people because he isn't lifting those ALREADY CAUGHT by the net.
By any popular definition of need, those in SEVERE poverty are in need. Unconditionality will find and help those people. Putting ANY condition on helping them will result in many not getting help. What is your candidate's plan to reach ALL people who fell through the safety net?
Don't pretend to care about those living in severe poverty if your primary concern is making sure those being given $1500 now get $500 more per month. My primary concern is those even poorer than them getting absolutely nothing. I want to abolish poverty and universalize DIGNITY.
We need to build an unconditional income floor underneath EVERYONE and then raise that floor over time so everyone starts higher and higher above the poverty line. Take off your tribal blinders and recognize your precious safety net that can do no wrong is in fact doing wrong.
Stop assuming that everyone under the poverty line is receiving government assistance. It doesn't work that way. Stop ignoring the growing rate of severe poverty. No plan out there would help those living on less than $500/mo more than making sure they start each month with $1k.
It's just maddening to see all those on the left claiming that Yang doesn't care about the poor and just wants to destroy the safety net, when his plan is THE ONLY ONE THAT WILL ELIMINATE SEVERE POVERTY. Kamala's LIFT gives you $1 for having $1. A JG looks at people like mules.
We have a chance here through Yang's candidacy to transform the conversation. Conditionality is an entirely flawed approach to government assistance. On avg, around the world, it excludes 44%-97% of those we want to help.

Universality works far better.

We need to open our eyes and recognize every single person falling through assistance programs because of their conditional designs. Your candidate needs to have a plan to help all those people who flew right through the net & hit the ground. What is it? Is it better than Yang's?
