Democrats in the House have gone clinically insane. This is criminal overreach. Outside a criminal investigation and without a court order, nobody outside IRS can have access to the contents of any person's tax returns, let alone the President's.
Democrats in the House have gone clinically insane. This is criminal overreach. Outside a criminal investigation and without a court order, nobody outside IRS can have access to the contents of any person's tax returns, let alone the President's.
Turns out three specific Committee Chairs (of House Ways and Means Committee, the Senate Finance Committee, and the Joint Committee on Taxation) can request to see tax returns. But they cannot release any info. If any info is leaked, they are subject to criminal prosecution.
What do the Democrats think they will find in Trump's tax returns? Clearly no illegality, because if there were, IRS would have prosecuted already. The most Dems will be able to do is to accuse Trump of exploiting loopholes in the tax code. And that will accomplish what exactly?
I think Democrats are grossly underestimating the damage they have done to their own credibility by trumping up the "Russia Collusion" hoax so vociferously for over two years. Everybody knows this is more of the same, only much much worse.
Other than the most deranged nuts in the Democratic party, most Americans will find it an unconscionable abuse of power to reach into the President's tax returns to smear him politically. Democrats will pay a heavy price at the ballot box for this perfidy.
