1/ This interview is fascinating. It bolsters my view that Trump played the media & Democrats for chumps: while his tweets dominated headlines & sparked fears of a “plot to stop Mueller” (-MSNBC), Trump was quietly following his attorneys’ strategy to cooperate fully.
2/ according to Dowd’s account, the one major stand-off between Mueller and Trump’s team comes over Mueller’s attempt to interview Trump. Trump lawyers dare him to take that before a judge — where he’d have to cite an underlying crime — and Mueller duly backs down.
3/ yes, we don’t have the report yet. But based on how it’s gone so far, I am pretty sure the report will be a letdown, and accordingly far more damning for the Democrats who prioritized Russiagate above all else than for Trump.
