Those of us who've been following Mike Adams and his antics are quite familiar with not only his promotion of quackery, but his embrace of every crackpot right wing conspiracy theory under the sun, from QAnon to false flag nonsense. 1/
I've been following Adams' antics since 2006, when I first discovered the precursor to Natural News, News Target. Here's an early example. respectfulinsolence.com/2009/07/12/how… 2/
As a result of my years of tireless deconstruction of his BS, in 2016 Mike Adams decided to slime me. Over the course of about 8 months he published dozens of defamatory articles about me, so many that I had to mention it in my @ScienceBasedMed bio. 3/ sciencebasedmedicine.org/editorial-staf…
I won't go into a lot of depth, but at last check, there were over 40 articles on Natural News attacking me. Adams claims to have reported me to my state medical board and the local FBI field office. No, I'm not kidding. He's also insinuated that I'm a pedophile. 4/
His big "gotcha" (or at least he thinks so) is to try to link me to Dr. Farid Fata, the oncologist who bilked Medicare and Medicaid out of tens of millions of dollars covering chemo to patients who didn't need it, some of whom didn't even have cancer. 5/
Never mind that I never met the guy and was only vaguely aware of him as someone my oncology colleagues sometimes derided before his arrest made national news. Apparently if we live and practice in the same metro area, we must be linked. Such is Adams' conspiracy mongering. 6/
In any event, let's look at Mike Adams' history. It turns out that he got his start 20 years ago selling Y2K scams. (Has it really been that long since the Y2K panic?) His Y2K Wire website was an important contributor to the Y2K panic. 7/ healthwyze.org/reports/616-sp…
From there, he went on to found Arial Software and made millions selling software designed to send out large quantitaties of email spam and evade spam filters. 8/
In 2006, Adams set up hundreds of different domain names providing thousands of web links back to his main website. Before Google cracked down on this practice, Adams was able to artificially boost his site's Google rank through this unscrupulous marketing practice. 9/
Adams is still a master of black hat SEO. A couple of years ago, though, he ran afoul of Google and was briefly delisted. Naturally, he made Google's action against him into a conspiracy theory. (By this time he'd gone all in for Donald Trump.) 10/ sciencebasedmedicine.org/google-delists…
One of the most disgusting things that Adams routinely does is to pounce on news of any celebrity who dies of cancer and rant about how, if only that celebrity had embraced "natural treatments," he/she would still be alive; i.e., Patrick Swayze. 11/ respectfulinsolence.com/2009/09/16/a-r…
Here, he tries the same thing with Elizabeth Edwards. 12/ respectfulinsolence.com/2010/12/10/ano…
Here Adams does the same thing with David Bowie and Alan Rickman. 13/ respectfulinsolence.com/2016/01/19/you…
And here he does it with Farrah Fawcett. You get the idea. 14/ respectfulinsolence.com/2009/06/30/the…
Another thing Adams did was to try to blame glyphosate for the death of celebrities of cancer. For example, here he jumped on the death of Joe Biden's son Beau of a brain tumor and blamed it on glyphosate and —of course—GMOs. Oh, and chemotherapy too! 15/ respectfulinsolence.com/2015/06/02/why…
Another favorite despicable trope of Adams' is to blame mass shootings on psychiatric medications, as he did with the Sandy Hook massacre. 16/ respectfulinsolence.com/2012/12/21/cry…
Meanwhile, Adams has deluded himself into thinking he's a real scientist on order to insert himself into tragedies like the Flint water crisis. It would be more risible were it not for the potential for harm. 17/ respectfulinsolence.com/2016/02/18/exa…
Another Mike Adams special was his "Monsanto Collaborators" list, a list of science advocates who had spoken out to defend GMO science who, he implied, should be killed. This one earned him a visit from the FBI, and he quickly backtracked. 18/ respectfulinsolence.com/2014/07/25/how…
Basically, Mike Adams is, IMHO, one of the most prominent and influential scammers in alternative medicine today. 19/ respectfulinsolence.com/2018/02/26/tru…
Adams is also one of the people most responsible, after Alex Jones and his ilk, for weaponizing bullshit to attack critics and science itself. 20/20 respectfulinsolence.com/2016/12/30/201…
