Went to a training on rights when it comes to ICE detentions. One interesting piece of info was that ICE can print a warrant on the fly to remove someone, but even though they may try to use it as a search warrant it is only valid in public places, not homes or cars.

Realise ICE often wears plain clothes with unmarked cars & approaches in public. As a bystander you can not legally physically obstruct them but you can film them (dont release identifying info on the immigrant to social media) The film can be used in court if ICE breaks the law.

If you witness an ICE intervention take notes or film of all pertinent info such as location, ICE badges or vehicle license plates, etc to give to local immigrant advocacy groups so they can be aware of local ICE activity. The ACLU can help put you in touch. In WA the group is 👇

Know your rights and know the rights and of others to hold ICE to account. However, remember to stay calm and stick to the law when interacting with ICE. Angry ICE agents are even more likely to do harm to immigrants later.

BTW we also learned that once you open the door when ICE knocks, they can come in as they can consider opening the door as the invitation. That is why the ACLU suggests asking them to slide the warrant under the door to determine if it is a legitimate search warrant (and filming)

We used this video in the training for filming during a real ICE raid. In this case the person filming was also doing a good job narrating. The immigrant was arrested but later released due to his video and questions of ICE agents actions.
