Here's 7 logical reasons why NOT to vote LNP based on protecting the Rule of Law.

THE most fundamental thing in our society.
#auspol #qanda
Most people understand the Rule of Law exists only when the executive (Queen/GG), the judiciary (judges) & the legislature (Parliament/politicians) don't interfere in each other's business right?

Foundation of our society.

So, why does LNP wanna mess with it?
The common law system has worked for millennia, yet on several occasions this LNP govt has threatened our very Rule of Law by coming 'perilously close' (quote from @markdreyfusQCMP) to undermining the very system they claim to defend.

1. Spud said in Feb 2018:
"the public should help select judges and magistrates in state courts, leaving the door open to the direct election of judges."

Legislature interfering with judiciary
2. Ministers Greg Hunt, Michael Sukkar & Alan Tudge avoid contempt charges after apologizing to court.

Legislature interfering with judiciary
3. Malcolm Turnbull close to interfering with High Court

Shadow attorney-general Mark Dreyfus criticised Mr Turnbull for saying Mr Joyce was "qualified to sit in the house and the High Court will so hold".

Legislature interfering with judiciary
4. Spud, again, introduced then abandoned laws that forced secrecy rules on asylum seeker staff, which threatened freedom of speech.

Violates common law principles & rights.
5. LNP govt introduced Anti-Terrorism Laws that gave unprecedented power to Parliament.

Unprecedented power to the legislature in regard to freedom of speech, movement, association, no checks & balances.
6. Spud, again, then doubled the size of his Ministry & the amount of Ministers (including a junior Minister) who can approve Anti-Terror control orders.

Unprecedented power to four individuals in the legislature, no checks & balances
7. Australia's human rights commissioner said the LNP govt are 'ideologically opposed to human rights'.

Violates our international obligations & common law rights & principles.
So, if you look at it from a Rule of Law perspective, the LNP don't have a real good track record.

And personally, I don't think there's anyone in the LNP that is smarter than every legal mind since the Magna Carta, so I don't think they should mess with the Rule of Law.
