This is like justifying a debate between winning the lottery and shooting yourself in the foot because a lot of people who have won the lottery have ended up broke.
The combination of ignorance and ingratitude are very harmful to our society. Yes, the system that has created incredible wealth and opportunity isn't perfect, but that doesn't justify trying to replace it with a system that ensures misery and suffering.
TFW When you really want to prove someone's point...
"Over the last 25 years, more than a billion people have lifted themselves out of extreme poverty, and the global poverty rate is now lower than it has ever been in recorded history."

That's almost exclusively due to the expansion of free markets.

People really have no idea how good they have it. Any other time in history, there were a few that had wealth and opportunity, and 99.9% of people were stuck living in extreme poverty. We still have challenges, but overwhelming majority now live with a relatively well.
People used to have to work all day just to get by, now we complain about the price of entertainment. People whose sole job is to entertain now earn millions because we have the time/money to spend on those things. Think about the technology we now have to make our lives easier.
Imagine taking all of that for granted. Taking for granted that landlines are practically extinct. That we get food, clothing, and almost anything else delivered to our doors. All of that was done with free markets. The average American now has a better life than most Kings.
But sure, it's not perfect so we should equate it with the misery and suffering that we've seen throughout history and continue to see in places like Venezuela, Russia, Cuba etc.
