Rashomon effect in full play over Mueller report. Everyone seeing what they want to see in it. So here's my take: $40 million spent on a nebulous side issue, while eminently impeachable offenses (emoluments clause, to name just one) are ignored. Why?
There's certainly evidence of obstruction of justice in the report, however; but Democratic leaders have already ruled out impeachment over them, even though they've ignored 2.5 years of other high crimes because they were "waiting on the Mueller report."
They did nothing all that time; they'll do nothing now. Oh, maybe Chuck might fast-track a few more Trump judges, and Nancy will keep trying to be a "partner" to crazed racist Trump on immigration. But impeaching him for open corruption? Forget it.
The only thing the Dem leadership will do about the report and other Trump crimes is raise money off of it with scaremongering appeals. Meanwhile, they'll keep focused on their ultimate concern, the only thing they are truly passionate about:
Attacking, undermining and eliminating any element in the party that seeks any kind of genuine change in a badly rotted system that gave us Trump in the first place and is guaranteed to bring us worse if there no real change. The Dem leadership is fixated on
maintaining their own sclerotic grip on a crumbling organization, rather than let others renew it with policies the party's own supporters are overwhelmingly in favour of. That will remain their chief focus, while the media oxygen will be consumed by ever-more arcane disputations
over how many angels can dance on the cover of Mueller's report. Meanwhile, the state crimes, social injustice, environmental ruin, wanton violence (at home and abroad) and the lawless depredations of plutocratic rule will go on and on.
