The @TeamFoldscope Rajaborari workshop in heart of the Gond&Korku tribal belt with participation of 10 schools from Timarni district &aspirational districts of Khandwa, Bardwani; had huge learnings for me.
The students eager to learn with equal enthusiastic participation of girls
The students were a revelation; came back next day with imaginative slides prepared lizard skin, urine drop, tick from the pet dog, hair of the cattle etc etc. Were eager to upload pictures even though they have little or no access to the internet.
Girl education increasing; with local girls emerging as role models.
Privileged to introduce Sunita Khare, of Mogradhana Village, comes from a family with no education. She studied from class 1 to Diploma in Electronics Engineering in educational programs of @TEDxDEI intribal areas
Sunita Khare is now employed by the Indian Army as UDC; has now constructed a ‘pucca’ house for her family (with help of #PMAwasYojana +her own earnings); got her proud grandmother to visit her in Mumbai (G’mother couldn’t stop talking about it 😊)
Here is Sunita with her family
Grandmother can be seen in the background of the first picture. The second picture is of her old house where she lived till a few months ago; how she studied there sans electricity is beyond my privileged comprehension. The third picture is the ‘pucca’ house.

What also amazed me was commitment of Foldscope mentors; young students themselves travelling great distances to teach the most under privileged. Most of them not the most privileged themselves. Schooling in regional language, continuing education with dedication and discipline.
