And this, kids, is why Sanctuary Cities exist. Police in such cities get more trust & thus cooperation from immigrants (both documented and non) &are therefore better able to solve crimes & put bad guys away, making those cities safer for everyone.

What they're gonna do, see, is train local and state cops as Warrant Service Officers for one whole day, thus making them complicit in the whole "rounding up of immigrants and holding them for ICE" thing, despite whatever negative effects it WILL have on local communities.

This program won't help anything. It won't get "dangerous criminals" off the streets," but it WILL make cities LESS safe.

One thing that freaking concerns me about the description of the inside of these temporary tents: guard towers. Guard towers?

They ALSO have 24 hour surveillance equipment, but sure, prison it up, @CBP. 🤬

It would take me a month of Sundays just to list all the discriminatory voting laws passed by states that weren't allowed to pass such laws without express permission, when section 4(b) of the VRA was still law of the land.

Conglomerate Thread of Charities/Other Ways to Help Refugees

I have stuff all over the place &want to bring it together. Even my Giant Thread of WAYS TO MITIGATE the #FakeTrumpEmergency has lots of political action-on-the-wall & non-immigrant specific items, which is great, but.
1. Annunciation House

This charity in El Paso gives shelter, food, clothing, hygiene products, bus tickets, etc., to 1000s of refugee families released by CBP, to help get them over the next few days and then on to family they have in the United States.

2. Borderland Rainbow Center

Also El Paso based, @BRainbowCenter, assists the thousands of immigrants dumped on the bus station's doorstep with no food, money, clothing or anywhere to stay. They have NEEDS!

@realDonaldTrump It’s beyond ridiculous Trump thinks this is somehow a winning strategy saying that he will “dump” all the undocumented immigrants in Sanctuary Cities. First of all, this is a clear violation of federal law and shouldn’t even pass muster from Trump’s own officials at DHS.
@realDonaldTrump Secondly, Trump thinks he can reveal the hypocrisy of the mayors of these Sanctuary Cities by calling their bluff and sending undocumented immigrants their way. This is a complete misunderstanding of Sanctuary Cities and what they are doing.
