The Friday cocktail -- let's call it an Irish Raven. Jameson + Charm City Meadworks' black currant/red raspberry mead + a generous squeeze of fresh orange (tossed into shaker), shaken and served with a few grains of raw sugar in great grandmother's crystal.

Game of Thrones/Long Night thread: I started reading this story 20+yrs ago & Martin is never going to finish the books. So while I've enjoyed the hot takes on use of fires/artillery/air power, it's important we evaluate ep from storytelling & not just military perspective /1 #GoT
If you read the Song of Ice and Fire, you've invested serious time in these characters & stories. This is probably all the wrap up we get. Is the show doing a good job bringing these to a fitting end, instead of just being fanfic? S8 ep1/2 largely fanfic. So let's consider 3. /2
Unlike most of Twitter, I liked the battle in the darkness and the difficulty of following it -- because this is absolutely how the Army of the Dead would fight.

An explanation: The malls in what was formerly DC suburbs but is now in-between, not that great area have these hilarious awful local stores -- and also things like fabric stores, where I needed to take my nephew.
I am ready for robots to replace these people and cut this fabric because these Jo-Ann employees could not possibly be slower. It's like being at the DMV before anything was on computers.

To be clear on these 4 points:

1 -- It is 100% true that Obama admin did not do enough in 2016 to alert public or combat Russian threats or specific attacks -- a pattern of behavior consistent to reactions to Russian targeting of Georgia and Ukraine, activity in Syria, etc
2 -- Also true: there hasn't been enough attn to purpose & interplay of attempted hacking of elex systems vs information operations -- former being a diversion from latter, which was far more significant. Kremlin understood former would suck up the air in room for Obama team.
3 -- None of this, nor any other data point we have, washes away that the Kremlin's effort absolutely influenced American minds & the election, nor does it absolve the Trump White House for ignoring the threat and leaving our people and nation exposed.
