To be clear on these 4 points:
1 -- It is 100% true that Obama admin did not do enough in 2016 to alert public or combat Russian threats or specific attacks -- a pattern of behavior consistent to reactions to Russian targeting of Georgia and Ukraine, activity in Syria, etc

2 -- Also true: there hasn't been enough attn to purpose & interplay of attempted hacking of elex systems vs information operations -- former being a diversion from latter, which was far more significant. Kremlin understood former would suck up the air in room for Obama team.
3 -- None of this, nor any other data point we have, washes away that the Kremlin's effort absolutely influenced American minds & the election, nor does it absolve the Trump White House for ignoring the threat and leaving our people and nation exposed.
4 -- From beginning, the way out of the speculation & doubts was for Trump to condemn what the Kremlin did, make a plan to combat those tactics, & be clear that Kremlin goals in world are in direct opposition to American interests.
That's it.

The Kremlin counts on this cascading failure of leadership, and every damn day it continues, we, the American people, are left to defend ourselves.
PS -- and YES, McConnell etc. No one is off hook. But the argument that the president can't do anything is just as hollow for Obama as Trump. They are presidents. They can do a hell of a lot.
