most female discussion of catcalling + unwanted sexual advances is subtextual signaling of their place in the female hierarchy. "men always catcall me", "yeah guys catcall me even when im not wearing makeup", "i rolled around in feces + men still cant keep their hands off me" etc
most men are completely unaware of the way in which women are always in subtextual competition to establish a hierarchy. male status is visible: money, muscles, intelligence, power. in a social group of 10 women its not immediately obvious whos "on top", youd have to talk to them

it was just a little confusing having an @ that wasnt anything like my name, also "identity" kind of puts a target on my back. more strategy wise, i also feel like indirectly pumping certain things is more efficient and strategic than branding everything in a hyper overt way

i wrapped up watching this show last night called "living with the amish" where a few british teenagers go to live with some american amish families for a few weeks. was interesting, but one of the effects this experience had on one of the kids i found especially noteworthy. [..]
there was this kid of the show named james who was, respectfully, kind of a london street kid type character. one parent in jail, lived alone, played video games all the time, went out to party with a friend, etc., basically exactly what youd expect. [...]
during their time in america these kids met the full amish families including the women. at one of these houses he actually asked the women there what their recommendation would be if he was looking for a wife, which seemed highly out of character. [..]
