I have known @StephenMoore for over 20 years. I know when he got outside of economics and wrote on things like sports he was always being purposely humorous and provocative, and everyone who read the pieces at the time knew it, which is why there was no hue and cry at the time.
The fact that no previous Fed member has ever gone through this level of scrutiny before is a testimony to 1) hatred of all things Trump, and
2) the instinct toward self-preservation of the incestuous Fed guild, used to operating with tremendous power and financial resources and who will broach neither second-guessing nor transparency.
Bring different perspectives to the Fed, and especially more transparency, is a fight worth fighting, and a key part of Trump’s legacy in breaking up the Big Government machine.
