This is a pattern. Commentary on this will hinge on the "should" aspect of the tweet. History tells us he will deny trying to bar Mueller. Short term memory is relied on to shape opinions. One may also weigh: would POTUS rly try this & risk the headache it causes him in 2020?
No real legal basis to bar Mueller from testifying, as I understand it. So again, if history says anything...

This matter becomes a question of risk/reward to his presidency. Or it will be another blip. What do you think? Drop a comment.

THREAD: Tonight I'm covering the House vote on H.R. 986, or the Protecting Americans with Preexisting Conditions Act, a Democrat-sponsored bill aimed at stopping the Trump admin's guidance on ACA waivers/coverage.
The guidance allowed states to access waivers for some health care plans and/or promote other plans even if they did not meet the same level of coverage a patient might have had under ACA.
Dems argue the admin's maneuver to redefine coverage rules hurts patients because it opens the floodgates to poor care and predatory practices by states & insurers. Republicans argue HR986 is a sham bill, misleadingly named and only restricts patient choice.

Michael McGarrity, the FBI’s assistant director for counterterrorism, said of the roughly 850 domestic terrorism investigations currently open, about half are rooted in anti-government and anti-authority ideology, while at least 40% are racially motivated.

Okay. History time!

You've probably seen photos of Commonwealth war cemeteries, with rows of white graves. They're heartbreaking images.

What you DON'T see are the thousands of small, tragic stories on each gravestone.

So I'm going to share some with you here. /1 #history #WW1
These stories exist because although every stone is similar, family members were able to pay to have a small, custom inscription made on each stone.

Which is why on Pvt J Low's grave you'll find this desperately sad inscription:

"Until we meet again. Mother." /2
Of course, the ABSENCE of anything is even sadder. Too often you'll see the nine saddest words in the English language:

"A soldier of the Great War. Known only unto God"

Those words appear when we know a body is there but not who. It was Rudyard Kipling who came up with them /3

SHORT THREAD: With @senatemajldr Mitch McConnell's second straight day of ranting from the Senate floor, a quick note on the depth of hypocrisy he displays.

I'm not talking about his complaints of delay after he blocked Garland for, well, forever. There's something deeper.

It is related to Garland, but not how you think.

Why did they block Garland? The most common refrain was that it would be improper to permit a liberal President from filling Scalia's seat, with a dash and sprinkle of "balance of the court" sanctity BS.

Let's be clear. When a Justice retires or dies... that's it. There is no posterity for the chair in which they sat, there's no "balance of the Court" consideration, & the arguments advanced in this regard at the time were the most hypocritical aspect of it all.

Why?
