The stock I never owned was MCI WorldCom. At first I avoided owning it since I had enough telecom. Then I read an Andrew Odlyzko paper in August of 2000 and concluded: "Holy crap! UUnet is lying!" So I quickly shorted MCI WorldCom and a basket of other stocks like JDSU.
Another "Holy Crap they're lying" moment in my life was when I read this:

"Enron Broadband partnered with Blockbuster yesterday in a 20-year exclusive deal to sell movie-on-demand services, including 500 titles, on its broadband network by year’s end."

This WSJ writer doesn't understand the difference between (1) Buffett using value as an analytical style and (2) value as a factor in creating an index fund. The first use of the word "value" has nothing to do with the second. google.com/amp/s/www.wsj.…
Buffett is miserable according to the WSJ author. This chart would indicate Berkshire is in a good place as the sixth largest company in the world.
The online WSJ version of the article completes the trifececta with a headline that claims the study about a factor in a index fund based on "ratios of book equity to market equity" indicates that that the Amazon investment by Berkshire was made during "a dangerous stretch."

US$ 3B SpaceX revenue a year at US$ 70M per launch on average would be ~43 launches a year. Yes, there other launchers and prices but assume all are all Falcon 9 and you get a sense of total addressable market. Total industry commercial launch now ~$6.2B breakingdefense.com/2019/05/usg-la…

Both Musk and Bezos must generate services revenues beyond launch to achieve their objectives.

Oh FFS, my initial take on the Bezos' divorce (thread).

As more details unfold what I'm seeing is a lot of the 'fem-stream' press attempt to get out ahead of what's undoubtedly going to be the single largest divorce settlement in the history of the world – $160B
So we're seeing all these stories coming out about how Jeff had a glass-eyed mistress or how Mackenzie 'deserves' the $160B payout because "there'd be no Amazon without her" even though she's never owned Amazon stock.
This is all pretty much squid ink to distract from the 200lb turd in the room which is that our divorce industry in the US presumes a wife is entitled to the sum of $160B for no other reason than she happened to take the chance on banging a nerd with some potential

This is why we need transparency and accountability on privacy. Esp for tech cos like Amazon that are omnipresent in consumer lives AND also supply tech/services to gov/military/LE.
Many large tech companies (inc. Amazon, Google, Facebook, Microsoft) sell tech/services to gov, military, law enforcement, and political campaigns. There are NO guarantees that the data collected from consumer devices will not be used for those buyers.

I've had a job for half my life and I'm realizing my financial mindset hasn't changed. I'm still living like I'm a single 18 year old and not a homeowner, spouse and mother of two. Here's an ongoing thread of financial resources that I'm implementing or planning to use.
I made this video to kick off the year. When I did these things faithfully, I saw my debt decrease.
I'll start small. If I purchased frivolously within the last few weeks, I take back the items that I didn't need. I just bought $30 worth of matte lipsticks this weekend. They are all going back. That's $30 extra dollars I could have put on my car note or student loans.
