This is the key point that continues to be ignored in corporate media reports on Assange: He was willing to go to Sweden and participate in the investigation (although he was not charged) — BUT Britain and Sweden refused to protect him from US extradition
In fact, Swedish prosecutors tried to drop extradition proceedings against Julian Assange as early as 2013 (they finally dropped them in 2017), but the *British government pressured them to continue*!

A UK lawyer wrote, “Don’t you dare get cold feet!!!”

What's more, British prosecutors admitted to destroying key emails in the Julian Assange case! Including email exchanges with Swedish prosecutors — while the UK government was pressuring Sweden to continue the case, dragging it out as long as possible

Certainly there are valid criticisms of Tulsi Gabbard. But there are just as many valid criticisms of Bernie Sanders, who for instance has not said a word about political prisoner Julian Assange, who UN experts have repeatedly said is being arbitrarily detained and must be freed.

Key details on the accusations against Assange: One of the 2 women, Sofia Wilen, said had been “railroaded by police," "did not want to accuse JA," and police "made up the charges"

The other woman has extensive ties to US/CIA-backed Cuban dissident groups
This was reported by mainstream corporate media, but the reports were later buried. The Miami Herald (which has employed US-funded anti-Cuba propagandists in the past) published this in 2010: "Accuser of WikiLeaks' Assange is linked to Cuban dissidents"
