It is excellent and very refreshing to see Bernie Sanders vociferously condemning murderous US imperialism and regime change.

He needs to stand up for himself more often like this. The corporate media wants to sabotage his campaign and does not deserve obeisance
Neoliberal charlatans will claim it's a bad idea to push back against bad-faith attacks from dishonest hacks in the corporate media—but the opposite is true: Working-class Americans like this attitude. Many voters don't trust, even hate the corporate media. It deserves no respect

This is the US/Saudi/Qatar-backed "Syrian Revolution" for you: Some Shia Lebanese boys died in a horrific car accident, and his response is to condemn them for opposing Salafi-jihadist CIA contras that terrorized Syrians and ethnically cleansed minorities
This blatant anti-Shia sectarianism, and even whitewashing of Saddam Hussein (who just so happened to be Sunni — while the US helped him use chemical weapons on Iranian Shia civilians), is common among supporters of the US/Saudi/Qatari "Syrian Revolution"

Horrible news in India: The far-right pro-Hindutva (extreme Hindu-nationalist ideology) ruling party BJP just swept the elections, with around 300 of the 542 seats—a victory even bigger than in 2014

This is with the highest voter turnout in Indian history

I've written about #Sanders over the years and like most leftists, thought his politics were an essential prod to others in Congress. But there are details of his political history here that #Bernie should be pushing instead of hiding: like that he was a Harvard fellow.

#Sanders is often presented as s spendthrift, but what propelled #Bernie from 3-term mayor of tiny Burlington into the House was his fiscal responsibility. He literally was deemed the Republican Trotskyite while mayor for reeling in spending and building the city's coffers.

My research interest is in political narratives. I’ve found once someone or a group of people is framed by the media as a particular archetype - hero, villain or victim - this characterisation is sticky and tends to influence how they are framed subsequently.
You all remember when Gillard was framed as a ‘liar’ for bringing in carbon price (it wasn’t a tax)? That villainous characterisation was impossible for Gillard to escape. It ultimately cost her the Prime Ministership and political career.

The insistence by white male writers that there is a two-white-man race out there between Bernie & Beto is so deeply, stunningly misogynist, it takes my breath away.

How is it POSSIBLE that these folks missed the blue wave which was fundamentally female--driven by women voters?
Not just driven by women voters, but driven by women candidates. Left-leaning women candidates, including WOC who ousted long-time older white male incumbents like....Bernie Sanders.

How is anyone missing this fact?
It's a major reason why Sanders' numbers have plummeted.

allow me to explain:

first thing to realize is that compromise usually involved splitting the difference (e.g. arbitration -- if you've ever been privy, you know exactly what i mean).

next you need to understate that starting positions matter
now we come to the republicans..

they know to start out WAY to the right of anything sane

democrats, being slightly more reasonable tend to open with somthing they thing will win the other side over to their POV.

... it ... will ... not ....

so this happens.
after a few years of this (say since 1980) you end up with both parties being FAR to the right of anything that a rational person would consider CENTER

enter #bernie sanders and his populist, moderate policy positions like #medicareforall or raising the minimum wage
