For those of you who do not follow this issue as ridiculously closely as I do, there is currently a pretty unattractive spat going on within the Labour Party as to which faction is ‘to blame’ for the utter disaster which is its handling of anti-Semitism...
... and this seems now to have led to rival leaks of internal emails by different factions, with accusations and counter-accusations. I have no doubt there is some backstabbing within the party (that seems to now be a standard mode of behaviour)...
...But an average person might reasonably ask whether it is *as important as it seems to those embedded in the factional culture* which faction is responsible for which bit of this omnishambles. Ultimately, this institution has a *leader* who has taken almost no responsibility...
... I have no doubt factionalism is at the root of much of Labour’s problems over antisemitism - but not because there is some great conspiracy to unseat ‘Jeremy’ but because those involved are so obsessed by conspiracies they have utterly failed to deal with the crisis at hand
And let us not forget the false allegation that Jewish people/Jewish community leaders/Jewish Labour Movement is actively conspiring against Corbyn is at the heart of many antisemitic incidents - so factionalism and conspiracies is a vicious circle for Jewish people in the Party
Case in point the antisemitic speech given by a leader in ‘Jewish Voice for Labour’ a few days ago, referring to a ‘fifth column’, which was inexplicably defended by a number of prominent Labour supporters
Putting this as simply as possible, Labour is currently an unsafe environment for many Jewish people because the Party institutions and personnel often prioritise factional allegiances over protecting people from discrimination. Hence why it needs to be externally investigated
