The I/O'19 web videos are full of great stuff. Want to highlight some PWA and PWA-adjacent talks...thread time!

First, the team that brought us squoosh.app showed more of what's possible from a single codebase with their new minesweeper, proxx.app. This PWA reaches all the way from feature-phones to desktop:

Speaking of desktop...did you know that PWAs are now installable directly from Chrome on Windows, Mac, CrOS, and even Linux?

@dominickng shows us how!

We have been busy on mobile, too. The name is confusing, but Trusted Web Activities are the tech that power 1800flowers' app in the Play Store...and what's inside? Their Polymer PWA!

@andreban and @b1tr0t talk through the "how":

That's right, users can install the exact same experience from Play as from the organic PWA install banner that Chrome and other browsers show.

One codebase, one deployment path to reach all of desktop and 80% of mobile, thanks to the web.
(technically, they can also install via Safari too, but you'll have to add extra UI to your app to show users how)
Back to the playlist!

PWA install is a vehicle and your service is the payload (that is, the important part). @petele and @tomayac outline what we're doing in Project Fugu to make more possible:

I won't go "Old Man Russell" with a sermon about performance, and will instead let these fine folks outline some great work that has been happening to make great, fast experiences easier to build & manage:

Lastly, I can't avoid mentioning the biggest sea-change in the baseline we build for in years: the Googlebot is evergreen!

@g33konaut & Zoe Clifford walk us through the changes and why less-JS is good even when your site is running in the datacenter:
