On the day Andrew Cuomo signed the NY abortion bill, my wife and I had an ultrasound and saw our unborn daughter. We decided to boycott NY.
On the day Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey signed the pro-life bill challenging Roe v. Wade, we had another ultrasound.
At first, I wasn't comfortable with the idea of Alabama not allowing for abortion in cases of rape. But my daughter is a human being worthy of full protection under the law. If she had been conceived in rape, that would not make her any less deserving of protection.
Today, a Planned Parenthood protester came up to my wife. She asked her to support the organization that kills millions of unborn babies just like my little daughter. My wife just kept going, but the very idea of this sickens me.
Here is our baby. She has human DNA, she has a heartbeat, and she has a cute little face. How anyone could support killing the most vulnerable among us is beyond me. Yes, crisis pregnancies are difficult — that's why we have crisis pregnancy centers.
Abortion activists do not support the crisis pregnancy centers, which provide needy mothers with diapers, cloths, ultrasounds, tests, and a whole host of basic services that they need. Yet Planned Parenthood attacks these centers as "fake clinics," pushing abortion instead.
This battle isn't about my preferences. It isn't even really about the women who have been harmed by abortion (although they should not be forgotten in this equation). This battle is about unborn babies like my daughter. We need to protect them. Full stop.
