THIS ACT BY RT. HON. ROTIMI AMAECHI, NIGERIA'S MINISTER OF TRANSPORTATION IMPRESSED ME! ~ @drsteve44

I arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, from my foreign trips. As usual, I got cleared at...

...the wing for Diplomatic and Official Passport holders, loaded my huge luggage unto the trolley and accompanied by my two foreign associates (Carina Baum & Fatouma Mohamed Ali) I approached the Customs and Airport securities at the EXIT. (Possibly) they recognized me and...
...waved me to move on without any inspection which was the norm at that gate.

Only then did I realize that H.E. Right Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation, was lurking behind the security operatives. He thrust himself forward and accosted me.
“Who are you, please?!” he said to me. Obviously, he was surprised that anyone could be passed the way I was.

Well, he is someone I know very well, so I didn't need to also ask him who the hell he was.
“Greetings Hon. Minister. I am Professor Steve Nwokeocha …” I politely responded.

“Oh, I see!” he said, and then agreed with the decision of the Customs and security operatives.
But as he turned to return to his place, I said, “Hon. Minister, it’s now my turn to make a demand.” Slightly amazed, he quipped, “what’s your demand?”

“Let’s take a (photo) shot of this encounter,” I said. “Fine!” he responded. And here are the shots …
In the course of the brief interaction, the Minister’s personal aides informed me that the Minister had gone without sleep all through the night as he personally mounted surveillance around the airport and other critical assignments.
I could also notice that he was really exhausted but felt that the call for duty was supreme.
I was impressed by the act because it demonstrated one of three key qualities for effective national leadership:
• Zero tolerance for corruption including nepotism and all forms of favoritism
• Expertise – round pegs in round holes, and
• Passion – to give body, mind and soul to work like the Minister demonstrated.

Let's pray that the soon-to-be inaugurated cabinet of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will reflect these qualities.

It feels good to be home! ❤️❤️❤️😁😁😁
