SCOOP: Michael Cohen told a House panel earlier this year that Trump's personal lawyer, Jay Sekulow, instructed him to lie to Congress in 2017 about when Trump Org had ended the Moscow Tower project negotiations.

In closed-door appearances before the House Intel Cmte, Michael Cohen was more specific, saying that Trump lawyer Jay Sekulow instructed him to use Jan. 31, 2016, as the date when the Trump Tower Moscow negotiations ended [they ended in Jun 2016].

Recall this Jan 17, 2019 reporting by @JasonLeopold and @a_cormier_ that Trump directed Michael Cohen to lie to Congress about the timing of the Moscow Tower project negotiations which got pushback from SCO but has borne out.

Judge Mehta: Congress is clearly able to investigate potential illegal conduct by a president before he takes office. It's unfathomable that they couldn't investigate a president for potential crimes even without formally opening an impeachment inquiry.

2/ Trump was secretly working on getting a tower in Moscow. It had the potential to be *his most profitable project.* To make it happen, he *needed* the Kremlin’s help.

Not in some hypothetical, vague way. In a very concrete way.

Lemme explain...
3/ Michael Cohen and Felix Sater were scouting out sites for Trump. Some were in central Moscow—where there are strict high limits.

To build the big Trump Tower there, they would have needed a variance.

You know who could give one? Putin.
