Some quick thoughts on @justinamash's impeachment comments:

1. I think he's sincere, and, as many have already said, shows a real courage of conviction.

2. I also think he's largely right that both Dems and Repubs would be singing different tunes if POTUS' party were reversed.
3. I think where Amash probably goes wrong is the framing around Barr. If Mueller left bread crumbs pointing towards an impeachment, it is NOT Barr's job to endorse/amplify them.

Impeachment is an inherently political process, and one that the AG shouldn't touch with a 10' pole.
4. Regarding the actual call for impeachment, I find myself torn. I agree that the behavior we saw in the report deserves a formal finger wagging (and to be clear—with the current Senate—that's all this would amount to), but we're also in an election cycle.
I rather fancy myself a principles guy, but... (there's always a "but", huh?) I would beyond doubt prefer that we reelect the same guy that I left my party over than see anyone in the current Democratic lineup take the Whitehouse, and an impeachment is non-negligible ammo.
That said, whereas I'm apparently willing to counterbalance the principle of the matter with some good ol' fashioned strategery, I'm conflicted enough that I won't throw any shade at Amash for holding a line. I don't fully agree w/ him, but I actually do respect his stance here.
