British Steel need a £30 million rescue package in order to avoid insolvency and save 4,600 jobs.

This may seem like a lot of cash, but here's a THREAD to provide some context:

1/10
£30 million to save British Steel is less than the £43 million in public cash Boris Johnson and the Tories spaffed on a "garden bridge" in London that never even got built!

2/10
£30 million to save British Steel is less than 1/4 of the £133m the Tories wasted on hiring ferries that didn't exist/paying for ferry services that didn't operate/compensating rival transport companies over the unlawful 'no bid' ferry contracts they were handing out.

3/10
£30 million to save British Steel is less than 1/5 of the £171m that Tories wasted on their spectacularly failed probation service privatisation (another Chris Grayling masterpiece) which didn't just waste huge amounts of money, but also seriously endangered public safety.

4/10
£30 million to save British Steel is less than 1/6 of the £200 million the Tories have spent in the last 5 years on legal battles against sick and disabled people who have been caught up in their grotesque disability denial system.

5/10
£30 million to save British Steel is less than 1/7 of the £237 the Tories spent on renting the underground aviation fuel supply network for a 10 year period, immediately after selling the entire lot off directly to the governments of Oman and the UAE for just £82 million!

6/10
£30 million to save British Steel is just 1/33 of the £1 billion bung Theresa May handed out to the bigoted Northern Irish DUP sectarians to prop up her malicious shambles of a government.

7/10
£30 million to save British Steel is just 1% of the £3 billion the Tories wasted on the biggest top down reorganisation of the NHS in history in 2012, just two years after campaigning on the promise of "no more top down reorganisations of the NHS"!

8/10
£30 million to save British Steel is way less than 1% of the £4 billion Theresa May wasted on "no deal" planning before she scuttled off to Europe to beg the EU for an article 50 extension so that she didn't have to follow through on her threat to ruin the UK economy.

9/10
So bear all of this in mind if the Tories come out saying that we can't afford £30 million to save 4,600 jobs.

It's not that they can't afford it, it's that they simply don't want to.
