British Steel need a £30 million rescue package in order to avoid insolvency and save 4,600 jobs.

This may seem like a lot of cash, but here's a THREAD to provide some context:

£30 million to save British Steel is less than 1/5 of the £171m that Tories wasted on their spectacularly failed probation service privatisation (another Chris Grayling masterpiece) which didn't just waste huge amounts of money, but also seriously endangered public safety.

It's not that they can't afford it, it's that they simply don't want to.
