I don’t recognize my country anymore.
My friend, @MsPackyetti just DM’d me. She explained how this has always been this country. I’m horrified. I am angry. I’ve not only lived a privileged life but also a bizarrely sheltered one. I’ve been on a set since I was 7 yrs old. A diverse set. A set of total inclusion.
Seeing racism so brazenly out in the open—and news outlets giving hateful people a fucking platform, in this time—hurts my soul. BONE CRUSHING. To anyone ever hurt by racism: I’m here to learn and stand by your side and hand over the microphone and do whatever I can. 🖤
And thank you, @MsPackyetti for calling in instead of calling out. I love you for so much but especially this.

Today, Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri—the last remaining abortion clinic in the state of Missouri—announced that absent court intervention it will be forced to stop providing abortion care this week.
Unless the court steps in, Missouri will become the 1st state in the United States without a clinic that provides abortions health center that provides abortions. 5 other states—Kentucky, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota, &West Virginia—only have one abortion clinic left.
As what is happening in Missouri shows, politicians don’t have to outlaw abortion or overturn Roe to push it out of reach entirely.

The article you cite, written by @benwallacewells for the @NewYorker raises some interesting questions. @IlhanMN indicates she has PTSD from the Somali Civil war which broke out around 1991 (which you indicate as well). 2/7
In your interview, @IlhanMN said that her family fled Somalia when she was 7 years old. Although only a slight contradiction, her own website claims that she left when she was 8 years old. (Hint, a year makes a big difference in “war.”) 3/7

2. Allaah {SWT} Has created us all differently. As the imperfect humans that we are, we have strengths in some areas of our lives & we are weak in others. Some of us have the ability to managing stress or difficult emotions, while some are utterly weak in those areas.
3. For some, acting on strong raw emotions in a destructive manner and lack of emotional regulation is a norm. The way some people quarrel with people outwardly is the same way they do quarrel them inwardly. How often do you see people fall & collapse from a rage in an argument?

My date followed up by asking, “If your boyfriend asked you to cook for him, would you?” I grinned, as I realised my date was sadly playing from a script. I replied, “I don’t have a guy I like who’s asking me to cook, so I can’t say.”
I think my date thought I was being coy. But, I wasn’t. I was just being honest. A while ago, I decided to deal in reality and not hypotheticals. I have tried and failed to control life. All my effort got me was an anxiety problem and therapy.
