Is “collateral damage” from wartime bombing “intentional”? 1
Facebook *INTENDS* to make as much money as it can from as many clicks as it can garner. The destruction of lives and societies is merely their collateral damage. They have no intention of harming people, but it’s a necessity of their quest for profit. 2
When companies grow to a certain size (can’t say exactly, but definitely once they are publicly traded) they lose whatever sense of humanity they once might have had. 3
The become wild animals, mindlessly pursuing their prey with little regard for who might get hurt in the fracas. 4
But wild animals stop killing and devouring when they are sated. Corporations never stop. Their pace merely increases, their conquests pile up, their victims become legion. 5
Corporations become sociopaths. They have the powers of a sentient being, but they have no conscience, no morals to hold them back. 6
I don’t believe capitalism is inherently evil, except that capitalism MUST be restrained by very strong reins. And those reins must be held collectively. And without those strong reins, capitalism becomes evil. 7
Guys like Zuckerberg, Dorsey, and Sandberg are acting very evil these days. I doubt they started that way (prolly not angels, but not evil). But give anyone unchecked power and billions of dollars and they begin to act in a certain way. 8
That certain way is always evil. Even if they give billions to charity, they make sure that their philanthropy doesn’t disturb the essential behavior of their supporting corporate bodies, even if those bodies are trashing people and economies. 9
