I read the first few paragraphs, then stopped for now. I don’t want spoilers to the TV show. 1
I’d just like to point out that Chernobyl was an event that involved global politics at the very highest level, along with hundreds of thousands of lives, not to mention billions and billions of dollars. 2
What that means is that there is no longer any such thing as “news” or “reporting” or “facts” about the event and its aftermath. 3
With that kind of money and power behind the telling of the Chernobyl story, any writer can be bought, and any narrative can be developed, and any lie can be repeated often enough to become truth. 4
There seems to be some notion that an article in Forbes magazine is telling the truth. That is simply daft. Comical. Naive to the point of hilarity. Forbes is one of the mouthpieces of the 0.00001%. Truth is not even on the table. 5
I can totally understand how someone who has spent a lifetime climbing the Nuclear Engineer career ladder might clutch at straws defending the “clean energy” and “safety record” that nukes’ enjoy. But that doesn’t mean there is any value in that defense. 6
What I would prefer to hear in lieu of discussions of alternative sources of energy is discussion of ways to reduce our usage of energy. When engineers whinge about the relative safety of nukes, I just hear Juicero. 7
