Really looking forward to this @theweekly episode which promises to be another example of @itscaitlinhd's stellar reporting. But this tweet is not correct. @HoustonChron was the first to break the admin's practice of family separations in Nov. 2017 tinyurl.com/y8uot8z2
We followed up in December 2017 with a profile of one separated mom, (tinyurl.com/y7tz9hv8) while @nytimes was reporting the policy was still under consideration. tinyurl.com/y3bc4533. ( @OIGatHHS confirmed this year it was a pilot program in the El Paso sector.)
The @nytimes @itscaitlind was the first to report in April 2018 the full known spectrum of separations to that date: +700 children separated between Oct. 2017 and April 2018: tinyurl.com/y5vug7wg And she has continued to do amazing reporting since.
But let’s give regional newspapers their due in struggling times. Again, really looking forward to this episode and what promises to be amazing reporting.
