1) Just a comment to Labour supporters
"close alignment with SM" is not a thing, it's a lie, a deliberate deceit because no such option exists

Therefore as it stands Labour have been proposing a hard #Brexit for 2 years

Every Front bencher knows this

2) Thornberry, Starmer, Corbyn, Long-Bailey, Gardiner, Burgon have repeated the phrase "customs union with a close alignment to the SM" *knowing* it was meaningless

For nearly 2 years

I'm arguing with a Corbyn supporter right now who thinks "Norway" means SM without FoM
3) I say in all seriousness Labour are by some stretch the most dishonest of all the parties right now, and thats quite some achievement

They've deliberately & cynically kept alive the myth of a "good" #Brexit.

It's utterly shameful, I don't know how anyone can support them

So on that note I'd like to ask them
a) are you actually a party member?
b) is it true I can't join BxP, only "subscribe", like Netflix?

1) Couple of conclusions this morning

May have reached the watershed where we can leave Corbyn's Labour to their hard #Brexit stance. Its supporters won't go for it and are flocking to pro Remain parties so Labour will just fade away. In its current state that's no bad thing
2) need to accept there's a core of 30% of the population who can't be reached on #Brexit and we shouldnt even try. Spoken to a number of BxP supporters and they are locked in the same old thinking, don't fully understand the BxP position (no deal? "managed exit"? Strong arm EU?)
2b) these Brexit voters are unreachable. They just want Brexit, they probably couldn't even articulate why any more & for example they're very careless of democracy (it doesn't bother them one bit for example that there's no way of deposing Farage from BxP)

Another week, another "edging towards a 2nd ref", another forked tongue stance

This is what a Corbyn government would look like - on everything

2) any Corbyn government would face difficult choices. It would also have a responsibility to rebuild trust in politics, and it would fail miserably.

Because whatever Corbyn was before being leader hasn't translated into a good picture post his election
3) ever since he agreed under pressure to support Remain just after his election he and his teams instinct has been to equivocate, misdirect, be ambiguous

Starmer sent out to say one thing, McDonnell something slightly different, Gardiner something different again

The worst thing Labour supporters like Owen can do at the #EUElections2019 is lecture and patronise Remain voters.

-203 Labour MPs voted for a #PeoplesVote in parliament
-34 Labour candidates have signed the @Remain_Labour pledge.

- The NEC decision confirms that backing a #PeoplesVote is an 'option', but did not commit to it unambiguously.

#Remain campaigners have every reason to be frustrated. But instead of attacking them (as Owen does), we need to convince them to stick with Labour

So, where are we today? Overall I would say that the #Labour #Corbyn strategy is working well, and is likely to see Jez in No. 10 at some point in the next year or just over a year.
The #Conservatives are experiencing what looks to me rather like damage ERM crisis did to them in autumn 1992. Have lost 13 points (!) with @YouGov in just six weeks. Bear in mind that experience shows that such falls get worse for some time - could be headed v low.
The moment MV3 failed to pass was a clarifying one, and therefore welcome here - had been wondering for years what was keeping the CON score so high. It was #Brexit. We're now at 50/50 whether it even happens. They will struggle to recover.

1. #Labour now seem to be unified in calling for a customs union. This to me looks like the sleepy kid at the back of the class suggesting something to make it look like he was paying attention. It is a non-solution to #Brexit. Thread...
2. Because it has the word "customs" in the name, they believe it has magical properties that bring about frictionless trade. As the Commission pointed out a year ago, this simply is not the case.
3. Frictionless trade is the byproduct of a system of behind the border controls which is largely to do with regulatory harmonisation - ie the single market. Without it, there will need to be controls at or near the border.

First off, we must thank-you all. We launched a poll on Monday expecting maybe 500 responses maximum. Instead we had a whopping three-thousand-two-hundred-and-thirty votes on our Twitter poll.

That’s ridiculous.
We asked you which party you thought had the oldest average age of MPs.

Most of you, 66%, thought it was the @Conservatives, then the @LibDems (15%), then @UKLabour (14%), with the @theSNP coming in last with (5%).

I bet the SNP are feeling fairly youthful right about now.

(Thread) To all @UKLabour candidates in the upcoming May local elections:

Unfortunately I will not be able to vote for you as a representative of the Labour Party; this is despite having been a #Labour voter myself in the past. Please allow me to explain briefly my reasons why.
After the sacking of Owen Smith, I cannot vote for @UKLabour in any shape or form at the moment due to Jeremy Corybn's approach towards #Brexit which I view as highly undemocratic and contradictory to what the Labour party is meant to stand for ("for the many, not the few"?).
The attitude towards #Brexit by @jeremycorbyn and other hardcore Brexiteers like him really is now bordering on the fascist, something I find deeply disturbing. It seems that dissenters are being crushed.

The noises coming out of #Labour on racism towards Jews (let us call it that) are increasingly hollow.
Let's not even talk about the 1000s of oddballs in & around Labour, who rant on about "Zionists", etc like UKIPers talk about "immigrants", but we know where both are pointing.
