This 2,500-year-old female mummy is known as the “Ice Maiden". It is one of few in existence with visible tattoos.

The remains were found in 1993 by Natalia Polosmak in a subterranean burial chamber in Republic of Altai, Russia.
Buried around her were six horses, saddled and bridled. Some believe that she was a healer and died at the age of 25.
A team of Russians scientists concluded in 2014 that she had breast cancer in her 20s.
It is also believed that she smoked cannabis to try to dull the pain. A small container buried with the body has been confirmed as containing cannabis leaves.
