A lot of people might be liking the president's tariff move with Mexico, but I personally hate it. To fix the immigration problem we need a long term strategy. One that fixes Mexico AND fights China at the same time. This article is a good example:

Central Americans would be less inclined to migrate all the way up to the U.S. if they can great manufacturing jobs in Mexico. Mexican wages are lower in Mexico than they are in China. Logistical costs are also lower. Huge incentive for companies to leave China for Mexico.
It would solve our immigration issue AND be a big blow to China. But now these tariffs threaten that. Eliminate the tariffs and work on a deal with Mexico to help incentivize companies in China to relocate. A MUCH better deal to address immigration problems in the long term.
