one of the biggest mysteries of my life is why I never listened to anybody who raved about how ~uhmayzing~ travel is

i've tried lots of things that people have suggested, but travel is the thing I was slowest/latest to

maybe bc travelling with my parents as a child was Not Fun

I've travelled a few times over the years + I always *DID* think "this is refreshing, I should do this more"

but I rarely did

I think the game-changer for me now is having people to meet

random exploring = pretty cool

having twitter friends show you around their city = 😍

found an old blogpost draft I wrote in 2012

"It feels fantastic to interact with strangers, to help them and to receive help in return. Life-affirming."

I am so slow to learn my lessons 😅

(and yes I married the girlfriend)
