This SPARC bug reminds of another Sun bug whose cause I never discovered: Solaris network stacks sometimes dropped packets. This happened at all network speeds, even at only a few packets a second, every so often, like one in a million chance, a received packet would disappear.
This is around the year 2000. It really bugged me because our customers kept telling us they wanted to run on Solaris, because that platform was more robust and faster -- despite all evidence that WinNT on Pentium Pro was more robust and faster.
So we allowed some customers to run on Solaris. Then they'd complain when we reported that packets were being dropped. Well, yes, that's what we've been saying.
"But your competitors running on Solaris don't report dropped packets". Yes, they do (sometimes), but they hide the number away so it doesn't annoy you. We make it up front and unmistakable because we believe it shouldn't happen.

I've often been amused by "SLA credits" because the math isn't calculated the way I'd calculate them.
If I have a Service Level Agreement of five-nines, or 99.999% uptime, then I expect a 1-hour outage would give me 420 days (10000 hours) of free service. Nope, it usually means at most a month's free service, as they didn't meet the SLA for that month.
Since even the crappiest Internet service can achieve 99.999% uptime 10 months out of 12, if that's how your "SLA credits" work, then everyone provides this.

Nope. There was nothing particularly wrong with the x86 instruction set. Every instruction set gets full of cruft over time. Look at the dramatic change in the ARM instruction set when they changed to 64-bit, for example.
Sure, x86 is somewhat more complex, but give today's transistor budgets and such, dealing with an instruction set hasn't been that painful. Some of the biggest pains has come in how to extend the instruction set, such as the mistep between AVX1 and AVX2.
This superior attitude looking down on x86 instruction set is just a trope. Sure, with the fullness of time, we might make different decisions with the lessons learned, but that doesn't mean x86 is terrible.

Yes, we all hate Trump and want to believe stories like this, but its use of anonymous sources and passive voice is problematic. Yes, the request was made, but WHO made the request is the most important part of the story, and it's missing.
This part of a supposed email is going around, but it's obvious been cherry picked removing any context that might exonerate Trump's side of the discussion. In particular, it deliberately removed WHO sent it.
Yes, Trump is a child unfit for the office, as we can see in his own actions, speeches, and tweets. I don't need obviously flawed stories to confirm my belief in this.

Another fun perspective -- you have to consent beforehand (usually on your license) to donate organs in the event you become brain dead. No one, not the state, not a hospital, not a child, can take/use part of your body -- even though it's dead -- without consent.
If someone is brain dead and will never recover, you still cannot take any organ from their body without that consent, even if it has the ability to save the life of a dying child. One has to agree to allowing someone to harvest and use their body for anything, even in death.
Yet in states like Alabama, Ohio and Georgia, male law makers are giving away access to women's bodies left and right without their consent, so a fetus can survive. We won't use the body parts of dead people without their consent to save a child, but will force women--

Analysts and forecasting agencies figured batteries were a mature technology and had reached a price floor.
