Some background to get the #MurderSheWrote Ask Me Anything rolling: I was a writer/producer on the show for seasons 8 and 9 (leaving 9 about midway through to do Babylon 5), working with EP David Moessinger who was brought in to run the show when the ratings sagged --
-- because the stories had, in the network's view, become a bit too dry and told the expected stories in the expected ways. David and I moved Jessica Fletcher to NY in order to freshen up the show (while keeping her home in Cabot Cove) and I decided to make her --
-- a criminology instructor on a Distinguished Visiting Lecturer basis a la my own mentorship with writer Norman Corwin. We focused on making her actual work as a writer more of the story, to which point I moved her off the manual typewriter onto a computer, not just to --
-- modernize the look of the series, but to show older viewers that the transition could be done. My episodes include Night Fears (which introduces her as a teacher), The Committee (an ep that Angela has often said was her favorite), To The Last Will I Grapple With Thee --
-- The Wind Around the Tower, Incident in Lot 7, and Final Curtain (ironically the title of my last episode for the series). Feel free to fire off questions about any topic related to the making, writing, producing and behind-the-scenes elements of Murder She Wrote. And...go!
