Chapter 15. The Shape We're In/Disintegration

(I fear that by the end of this book he *will* convince me we're doomed, but *won't* convince me he knows how to remedy the problem.)
In addition to the problem of technological job loss, American society is in no position to fix its problems because--and here he offers a bullet-point list of reasons for despair--
among them, we're getting older, we have no savings, we're all on drugs, we're depressed, we're in debt, we're uneducated, our economy is consolidating around a handful of oligarchical firms, and we neither trust each other nor our institutions.
We bowl alone. Young people question capitalism. He credits capitalism for "elevat[ing] the standard of living of billions of people and defin[ing] our society for the better,"
But capitalism is "about to turn on normal people."

Then he asks ... "What is to be done?"

(Does he have any sense of what he's just written and what it evokes?)
