I'm only twenty pages in to "Riots I Have Known" by @chapmanchapman, but it has delivered numerous out loud laughs, which, like never happens to me. I need to pause to savor it.
In conceit it reminds me a little of Sam Lipsyte's "Home Land," a book I read on a plane and laughed at so much I got stares. Neither book is jokey, they're just funny, brilliant comedic conceits with fantastic narrative voices and incredibly precise craft work.
I'm teaching a first-year experience course in humor writing in the fall and I'm already highlighting passages from Riots I have Known to illustrate the importance of precision in voice/rhythm/word choice to make the humor work. It's like a magic trick, but can also be understood

I think any writer would really enjoy this The Art of the Process podcast interview with @emilynussbaum. Really resonates with me the way she demystifies both the writing process and the larger writer's journey and career. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ep-…
I'm never going to win a Pulitzer or have a New Yorker byline, but the work of writing is the work of writing, no matter what heights one has scaled professionally. It's reassuring to see someone so accomplished who is engaged with the struggle.
Towards the end @tedleo @aimeemann and @emilynussbaum talk about "faith through experience" that you're going to solve the problem with the piece based on having solved it previously. As a writing teacher, I think this is the most important experience we can give students.

Fierce piece of analysis from @AdamSerwer on that intra-right debate about whether or not they can allow liberal democracy to continue because they don't like the cultural outcomes. theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…
I especially appreciate (at least) two aspects of the piece. One, @AdamSerwer puts the magnitude of the debate in context, correctly identifying it as an argument inside a "walled garden." At the same time, he's clear about the danger that attaches to the ideas if pursued.
Unlike the critiques from the right which take on a "sky is falling" tone anytime a college student does a single questionable thing (for ex.), Sewer very carefully outlines what's being discussed and what's at stake that neither inflames or minimizes the issue.

To be fair, Cowen does not explicitly talk about "dislike" as a reason behind the call to break up the companies, but overall the article shows what happens when you only have libertarian economics handy to look at the world. He argues that existing anti-trust law doesn't apply..
...but this is exactly the point critics have been making. We have new entities that were not anticipated by anti-trust laws from another era. To analyze the present entirely through that lens is a failure of critical thinking.

2. QDrop 15 says thatPodesta and Huma are going to be arrested in early November 2017. This doesn't happen. QDrop 16 declares that on Friday & Saturday Trump will make good on MAGA. I fail to remember America's greatness being restored that day.

2. Welcome To The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) aka the Stimulus Bill
The approximate cost of the economic stimulus package was estimated to be $787 billion at the time of passage, later revised to $831 billion.
3. There were fierce debates about 'shovel ready jobs' and such. A lot of hot air was generated trying to justify the need for a stimulus of this magnitude, unprecedented in history. The world will come to an end if the stimulus package was not immediately passed, we were told.
