@euinzim @ZAGPInfo ZAGP 1. Congratulations for finally launching this needed programme. We look forward to a positive outcome for livestock farmers. We have huge interests in sector as the potential or real engine for smallholder transformation. For that reason, we will check mate each move u make.
@euinzim @ZAGPInfo ZAGP2. Let’s get to the launch matters, though we have known for a while this programme design and the “international” NGOs selected to partner as consortium on different portfolios. Of course the reality is that there is n single Local NGO leading, a Zimbabwean programme
@euinzim @ZAGPInfo ZAGP3. You might take it that we have sour grapes. It’s true, we do have them because of particular structural deficiencies in the design and execution of the programme. I am not going to hide these, but say them because this programme is on the Zimbabwean space
@euinzim @ZAGPInfo ZAGP4. For now we would appreciate the basics of the financial package ! Of the Euro40 million, how much have you allocated for each of the 5 value chain consortiums? In which areas of the 10 provinces will you implement? I know the caveats, and we need precise action locations
@euinzim @ZAGPInfo ZAGP5. I have had the honour to read through the original design document. That is CRIS: ZW/FED/038-352 for yur reference. You will agree with me that as you do this launch, much of the context you wrote is dated and out of context. But let’s encourage you to go ahead
@euinzim @ZAGPInfo ZAGB 5: At the moment, I will not take a critical review of each of your consortiums and what they propose to offer, or could claim they are already doing. No at this stage. We giving them a chance to prove that the money you say constitute whole livestock portfolio will work
@euinzim @ZAGPInfo ZAGP7. What is the package for livestock farmer support? What is the dollar U$ that reaches the farmer? Are you and your partners undertaking programmes in Fast Track Resettled farms that badly need this support? How many A1 farmers are u reaching? Okay you have issues with A2
@euinzim @ZAGPInfo ZAGP8. Now you see I have walked through your logframes &indicators for quiet a while! I find them not so useful to give evidence or transformation. For the last 30 of so years, the logframes or people &assets has been catastrophic towards impoverishing so-called beneficiaries
@euinzim @ZAGPInfo ZAGP9. On page 6 of the design document u wrote “... all livestock sector is the lack of training and education of extension workers in the field....”. So you mean to tell us that an NGO can train and educate our extension? Where has that ever happened in the world?
@euinzim @ZAGPInfo ZAGP10. How this gonna be done? Who will develop the training carriculum? Whose curriculum? For me we need to have locals (research and development plus pvt sector and gvt) to lead in the transformation of extension. Your partners are very far less able to do so, never.
@euinzim @ZAGPInfo ZAGP11. On page 7 of ur design document u agree that “.... due to the changing nature of the agriculture sector from large commercial farmers to smallholders, there is a need to support....” I agree with you 💯 on this view! But where I have issues is that you being less honesty
@euinzim @ZAGPInfo ZAGP12. Has any of your consortium partners worked where commercial smallholders are? That is in Fast Track Farms? If not, and I know that none has ever done so, how will serious transformation be done! Precisely coz those smallholders on better land, water, grazing are excluded
@euinzim @ZAGPInfo ZAGP13. Your model of offtakers is indeed a strange one!🙄. You want to support large private sectors thru contracts. But we need critical insights of impact of contracts on smallholder sector. I know financial institutions that have left smallholders with a series of bad debts
@euinzim @ZAGPInfo ZAGP14. Lets go into 💰 🤑 matters. I am happy you have given opportunity for your international staff in INGOs to earn dollars, plus a few local staff who live by short term contracts to earn the same. Well good for them, though I know locals have insecurities & and play along
@euinzim @ZAGPInfo ZAGP15. For you all zimbos get this fact right! A percentage of that money goes back to the head quarters of the INGO as a principle. It’s up to them to tell us how much they remit back home? Also know that they bring their staff to checkmate every dollar too.
@euinzim @ZAGPInfo ZAGP16. I know everyone is happy, with spanky and wanky new Toyota Hiluxes 🤣. They are all over in Harare, getting privileges for fueled while we all sleep and que for fueli! That is INGOs for you. Next is the per diems! Believe me, this is a scandal. Why 👇🏾
@euinzim @ZAGPInfo ZAGP17. If u out at the launch do some quick mathematics! Count number of 4x4, estimate full tank for each, estimate numbers carried for that day, and some flown from outside, add the perdiems! Give me your estimate value💰? How many smallholders would have been transformed?
@euinzim @ZAGPInfo ZAGP18. You see what I mean, next will be some mini launches at programme sites! I wonder how much is eaten, before transforming a single farmers. My point friends is that we need to have a critical look at this @euinzim model. Including others such as @ZRBFZIM @LFSPZim
@euinzim @ZAGPInfo @ZRBFZIM @LFSPZim ZAGP19. We just have to be realistic and get a technical sound government to deliver on policy, get the private sector working, and ask kindly that it’s enough of the INGOs in Zimbabwe. They have overstayed their welcome! They are overrated by their creators for no reason.
@euinzim @ZAGPInfo @ZRBFZIM @LFSPZim ZAGP20. My project in the next 48 months is to track &checkmate these INGO in all spaces. I will read every sentence &dot. We shall no longer be blinded& appear foolish. We know the answers that can propel out country to stardom in agriculture. We are capable! Gud luck @euinzim
