Here's my public service story ... (thread) #GC2020

When I was younger, I never imagined becoming a public servant. Arguably, back then it wasn't a career that was promoted to me in high school or even university. I didn't grow up thinking: "One day I'll be a Policy Analyst or Senior Advisor" ... #NPSW

Working for the #GC these past five years has been incredible. I've had the opportunity to work on a number of key files across Parks Canada and TBS - from the development of a national parks and marine conservation areas, to protecting national historical sites like the HMS ...

to challenging files on climate change, adaptation, freshwater, fisheries, and oceans; to raising my hand to solve one of the biggest challenges many public servants are facing today with HR and pay. I've also had the opportunity to volunteers across my orgs and the #GC more ...

broadly, which has allowed me to support employment equity, mental health, and public service renewal. These experiences have allowed me to make invaluable friendships that transcend borders and have helped shape me into the person I am today! #NPSW #GC2020

So, why am I sharing my story? Despite the endless career opportunities the #GC offers and the incredible colleagues you can work with, there are still many young Canadians who don't consider public service life because we still struggle to share our stories to inspire them.

To attract the future of the #GC, we need to continue to share our stories to inspire the next generation of public servants. After all, these are the best stories - the ones that demonstrate the passion, curiosity, persistence and determination that make the #GC what it is!
