I have to get this off my chest: zombies are thermodynamically impossible. Moving around, even at a slow shuffle, takes energy. There are only so many calories in a human body and they would get used up pretty quickly.

125,822 calories in a human / (~300 calories/hour used for walking * 24 hours/day) = ~17.5 days
That's an *extremely* aggressive estimate, even with the decreased calorie requirements as the body lightens, as that would require walking until literally all of the body is used up.

Also, zombies don't seem to drink, so they would desiccate and chemical reactions would slow to a crawl, further limiting their ability to metabolize energy and thus to locomote and to seek brains.
The number of non-zombie humans who are running around loose would rapidly diminish, so the number of calories regained from brains consumption would rapidly run out, and isn't much to begin with. Brains have <2k calories and 15-20% of that would be lost to digestion.
