THIS is among the most important questions we should be asking:

WHY AREN'T MILLIONS IN THE STREETS IN PROTEST?

And because I lack a background as an organizer, I'm trying to understand why it's proven so difficult to spur sustained mass action (lawful and non-violent).
I'll expand.

To those in the comments asking if I've hit the streets, the answer is yes, for the past 20 years. In fact, I got my start in politics demonstrating against the Iraq war. Just because you see me on Twitter doesn't mean this is the sole extent of my activism.
Another point:

Of course I understand it's financially challenging (or impossible) for many people to engage in sustained protests, walkouts, strikes, etc. My question is about whether there's something more at play. Apathy, disillusionment, which is the aim of authoritarians.
What I fear is that the combination of the Trump/GOP assault on truth, the mainstream media's false equivalence, and the Dem leadership's timidity, has suppressed the will to fight among a portion of the public. Things are intended to be demoralizing, so that people give up.
