The Trump campaign continues to run false ads on Facebook with impunity.

On Friday, it ran an ad saying the deadline to sign Trump's birthday card was 9PM TONIGHT. (The card is used for email collection and fundraising leads)

Monday, a new ad saying the deadline is 9PM TONIGHT
You might think this is trivial but it's establishing a precedent

Facebook's own policies prohibit false and misleading ads.

Facebook doesn't enforce these policies w/the Trump campaign, which is spending 550K/week with Facebook
.@robleathern: Does manipulating people into clicking an ad by promoting a fake deadline violate your rule against false and misleading ads?

This is what the Trump campaign is doing here.

Wondering if Facebook is going to act or let this get worse.

2. The Facebook spokesperson didn't really try to explain why this clearly false ad didn't violate the rules

The main point was that two Democratic candidates, Gillibrand and Castro, were also running ads with fake deadlines

That doesn't make it better

3. The actual problem is that Facebook is putting profits ahead of enforcing its rules.

The Trump campaign isn't alone but they take advantage of Facebook's permissiveness more than anyone else

UPDATE: This Trump campaign Facebook ad, claiming there are only 10 minutes left to enter a contest for dinner with Trump, has been running for at least 12 hours

It's a clear violation of Facebook's rules against false or misleading ads, which its not enforcing
I have an inquiry into @Facebook, but after initially being responsive to my questions regarding Trump's ads, I haven't heard from them for several weeks

This is odd considering @robleathern, the Facebook exec in charge of advertising, has encouraged people to flag issues
Here is @robleathern encouraging people to report the ad through Facebook to improve its "automated systems"

Why is Facebook, a $500 billion company, using automated systems to review a few hundred ads from presidential candidates?

From October 29th through November 6th, I got 27 total emails. That’s exactly 3/per day, WAY above the 0.896/day average throughout all of 2018.

I chose Oct 29th for this thread because that’s when they really started picking up.
“Donald J. Trump” dominated the From field most of Oct. In the week before the midterms, they switched to a big mix of surrogates: Donald Trump Jr. (1st email of 2018), Eric Trump (8th), Melania Trump (5th), Lara Trump (23rd), Newt Gingrich (12th), & Brad Parscale (12th).
