We need you to call the Fort Hancock Detention Center NOW.

They’re on 915-769-1700.

We believe they are holding a young woman who’s unwell and on hunger strike.

Here's what we know right now...
One of our lawyers in Houston is representing Albert*, who told us his father and 18 yr. old sister had been detained upon entry at El Paso around May 8th.
His father was returned to Mexico to await his immigration process. This is part of the cruel and dangerous “Remain in Mexico” policy that violently forces our neighbors to wait, like sitting ducks on the Mexican side of the border, while their asylum cases are being processed.
We're a party to a lawsuit suing the administration about it.

More info about Remain in Mexico here: motherjones.com/politics/2019/…

It should be on the front pages every day as it’s a stain on the consciousness of our nation.
On Saturday, Albert got a call from his sister, Maria* who told him that she was moved to the Fort Hancock Border Patrol Station near El Paso.

She was desperate, crying, very ill and had decided she had no option left but to go on hunger strike.
She told Albert she’d been diagnosed with influenza, and was feeling very weak. She has no medication for her illness. She has not been provided with food and she is being held in la hielera.

This is an “ice box”, read about them here: thecut.com/2018/12/what-a…
We saw last week how ICE refused to provide medical info to Johana, a trans woman, which led to her death: theguardian.com/us-news/2019/j…

@ICEgov refusing medical care is tantamount to killing more of us.

We CANNOT let them do this.
We called Fort Hancock processing center but they denied holding her.

This is odd because the number she called from comes up as the same number as the Fort Hancock detention center.

This wouldn’t be the first time @CBP and @ICEgov lied to us.
We’re still trying to get more info.

Call the Fort Hancock processing center on 915-769-1700.

Ask them to give meds to Maria & every ill person in custody (24 people have died in ICE custody under Trump).

We'll let you know as we learn more. In the meantime, please call.
UPDATE: Maria* has been removed to Mexico, she is now in Cd Juarez. We're trying to get her on the phone to find out more.

But know this: This is how we treat asylum seekers now. We kick them out of the country.

Lady Liberty's lamp is being extinguished day by day.
