@LegalAidAtWork It's not surprising Trump made this threat as he launches his re-election campaign.

Truth is: he describes normal ops that already take place every day.

Those of us who work with & are part of immigrant communities know that these attack are taking place every day, all along.

Rodrigo Ruiz, a Peruvian🇵🇪 citizen has been living in the 🇺🇸 for 15 yrs and is fighting to stay to keep his son -- who's battling severe cerebral palsy -- here, where he can get the best medical attention.

Now he's being forced out by @ICEgov. Why?
Rodrigo entered the U.S. under a B1/B2 visa in '05 and became an overstay when he and his family realized that the only way to get their oldest son, Adrian the proper medical attention he needed was here. In the United States.
An official order of removal was placed in 2010. But for the past 7 yrs he has been on a stay of removal (a temporary postponement, which prevents @DHSgov from issuing removal).

*how many times can you say removal? 🙄

Nearly every person I meet after arrest, behind that metal mesh, tells me they waived their right to silence & spoke to police. I always ask why. The 2 most common answers: “I thought it would help” & “I don’t know.” Never speak to police. Literally never helps. Only can hurt.
More recently, NYPD started videotaping most interrogations. Theyre painful to watch. I sometimes find myself saying ”Don’t do it!” at computer screen even though I know they do. When they’re reading Miranda, I’m like: “Listen! Anything you say *can & will* be used against you!”
Another tip while we’re at it. In addition to not speaking to police, *do not accept or touch anything they give you.* They’ll offer water, other drinks, food, cigarettes. They are not being nice. They are tricking you into collecting your DNA from an “abandonment sample.”

I will make an assumption. Most ‘commentator of colour’ don’t want to do this. It is not always part of our job. We don’t get paid, if anything, we pay emotionally and financially by engaging in public discourse on issues of race and identity.
Last year for example, I took much time off work (often using my entitlements like an annual leave day) to do community events- mostly for free.
I was only able to do so many of these event because of the understanding and flexibility allowed by the Firm I worked for. That flexibility and their understanding was vital because otherwise, I would have had to contend with the possibility of losing my job too.

This all started because the #MetPolice & #LBRUT couldn't do their day jobs properly & decided to take the law into their own hands. It started as a small cover up 12 years ago but has turned into British State Persecution.

My company was raided. It should have been a straightforward matter. But the #MetPolice & #LBRUT forgot to seize my computer & came back to do a 2nd raid. The search warrant didn't permit a second entry, however, #LBRUT entered unlawfully
