No, @KendallRepub doesn't just stand for racism... It's actually more well known for enabling pedophilia.

The former KC GOP chair Dallas Ingemunson, also KC SA, even went so far as to threaten a victim who attempted to file charges against Hastert back BEFORE he was elected.
Yup, when a 20 year old came forward to press charges for Hastert raped him in a public bathroom at age 9, Ingemunson threatened to prosecute the victim.

THEN he ran Denny Boy for congress.

Still, this is nothing less than the behaviour I'd expect from the @kendallrepub party members.

Not the everyday citizens who vote Republican, necessarily, but... yeah.
Oh - right. The party also manipulated Hastert's victims by promoting family members to elected positions, forcing them to choose silence if they wanted their family member to keep their career.

And don't get me started on what happened to the Collman boys.

I think @AnandWrites is suggesting a better metaphor for understanding the growing economic gap the wealthy are hoarding all the growth.

But I think one question that needs to be asked: how many wealthy individuals could have truly amassed their fortunes legally & ethically.
The chart @alivelshi used to illustrate what essentially is the doubling of wealth in the top 1% vs the loss of wealth in the lower 50% is fairly clear, but what I would have REALLY appreciated is seeing a historical graph of normalized wealth since, say, 1900 or so...
because I have a feeling that there will be sharp inflections around both 1919 (the start of prohibition) and 1987-1989... and as both were followed by big economic crashes, THAT would be very interesting to address.

Yes, but the #GOP has been in selective revolt against the rule of law for decades, and Max Boot seems to have been OK with that until now. Take Bob Barr's late 1980s work covering up the Iran-Contra scandal; the "Contras", who got $ from illegal arms sales to Iran profits....

Racism began in the USA at its foundation w/ the wiping out of the indigenous population. Darker-skinned, perceived as inferior & killed in their 10s of 1000s in institutionalized genocide. This was the beginning of the US meme of white superiority.

The @CDCgov cites 133M as the number of chronically-ill Americans who have #cancer, like I do, or another illness that impedes their daily lives.

The majority of that 40% of the US population still have to work despite often disabling illness because we cannot afford not to.

I've been writing about #healthcare in America since I was a cub reporter and put on a small story in the mid-80s that turned into a much bigger story: #AIDS.

When you're in your 20s writing about other 20somethings dying, it changes you.

Then I got #breastcancer at 26.
