There's talk of summit on afternoon/evening of 30 June to finalise after a bit of fixing in the sidelines of G20. EPP for EC prez, liberals for council is one of the spun permutations - I don't buy it yet
Apparently, European Parliament does not have to choose its president at the first session - it can appoint longest serving MEP as an interim in the post
So the game could go longer with a full hand of jobs to shuffle

Also that those protesting the exclusion of separatist Catalan MEPs refused to stand for the anthem, which has an odious (geddit) past
The official arrangement of Ode to Joy is different from Beethoven's original and was by Herbert von Karajan, who had a tainted past as a card carrying Nazi

2nd Timmermans, the 2nd spitzen for S&D. EPP won't back him 'cos he's not one of them, hammering final nail in spitzen coffin. Takes a summit to kill him off and float some new options who did not stand as spitzen on party lists

Till I was 5 I was fully bilingual, but my dad was the only Gaelic-speaker in my life. There were bodaich who came round for a dram and a song, but we were always packed straight off to bed. There was nothing in my east Edinburgh neighbourhood to make sense of me.
When I went to primary school I stopped speaking Gaelic, but Dad didn’t. So I became a fluent listener. And when we moved to Peebles for my high school years, any chance of being part of a Gaelic community was blown. I had this sense of not being in any way a *real* Gael.

#New PA cong. map increases D chance of winning the House majority by 4%. They only need a 6.8% generic ballot margin now (down from 7.7) to be favored.

Diff. will be closer to 10% in Nov when uncertainty from polls is ⬇️. Redraw is a very big deal.

One major reason the new PA map is such a big gain for Democrats is that it solidifies, not just tips, PA districts in Philly burbs. Also creates one additional vulnerable R district. (Easily seen in this map made by @JMilesColeman)
My forecasting model will have new PA map in the near future. This is not just a simple switch; it’s a coding redesign, restructuring of input, & drawing new geographic files. Takes a while (for me, a student).
